SOURCE: Best of the Best from Virginia - Selected Recipes from Virginia's Favorite Cookbooks, 1st printing 1991, ISBN #0-937552-41-0. This recipe came from Chesapeake Bay Country. MM format by Ursula R. Taylor. In best brandy - steep fresh mint, then make a syrup of sugar and water (use this sparingly). Fill a tumbler (cut-glass) to 1/3 of brnady and then put in 3 tsp. of syrup; fill the glass with pounded ice. Then stick 5 or 6 sprigs of fresh mint on top OR 3 strawberries. If you use old whiskey instead of brancy, more is required to make it strong enough. For extra - dash the julep with rum.
